Stay Weather Aware

Lightning can be extremely dangerous, so it's important to take every warning seriously. To help protect park visitors, the City of Farmers Branch has installed Perry Weather Outdoor Warning Systems at Oran Good Park. The siren and strobe light are mounted on the outfield pole of Oran Good Field 6 and are clearly visible from the surrounding area.

Warning Signal
A single 15-second siren blast will sound when lightning is detected within 10 miles of the park.

What to Do
Upon hearing the siren, all activities must stop immediately. Everyone should leave the fields and seek appropriate shelter.

Visual Alert

After the siren sounds, a yellow strobe light on top of the system will begin flashing. This strobe will continue to flash until conditions are deemed safe.

All Clear
Once the area has been clear of lightning for 30 consecutive minutes, the system will issue an "all clear" with two 5-second siren blasts. At that point, regular activities may resume.

It is strongly advised not to return to the field or park until the Perry Weather System issues the official all-clear.
